History : Hundreds of stones were reportedly found in March 2022 and in the following months by meteorite hunters in the Bechar area of Algeria.
Physical characteristics. Samples found on the surface have a light brown exterior. Those found buried have a whitish exterior with orange calcite. All the stones lack a fused crust. The interiors are predominantly grey with dark grey and white clasts. Macroscopically, some metallic grains are visible.
Petrography: Fine-grained polymictic breccia, consisting of mineral fragments (mainly plagioclase, pyroxene, Ca-rich pyroxene and olivine) and a few anorthositic lithic clasts, set in a compacted fine-grained matrix. The matrix is partly crystallized melt. Sub-units of clast-rich impactic melt rock are intermixed. Accessories consist of ilmenite, troilite and metalliferous Ni; one zircon grain (~25 µm) was observed.
